February Baby of the Month – Meet Kadence

In 2016 we gave birth to our first daughter, after conceiving without complications.  When we decided to expand our family the following year, we automatically assumed that we could have another uneventful, healthy pregnancy and delivery.  The thought of infertility never crossed our minds.

After months and months of negative pregnancy tests, we decided in 2019 that it was time to seek help.  We made an appointment with our OB/GYN and after countless diagnostic tests and blood draws, it was determined that I had a cyst on my left ovary, and my left fallopian tube was obstructed.  Our OB/GYN told us that it was a miracle we conceived naturally, and that I would never carry another baby.

We asked to be referred to a fertility specialist and they recommended Dr. Collin Smikle with Laurel Fertility Care.  We left that OB appointment devastated and eager to schedule an appointment with Dr. Smikle.  Upon meeting him, we immediately felt at ease.  He discussed the results of my testing, he gave me honest expectations, and realistic options. I could tell from the beginning that he was genuinely invested in my secondary infertility journey, and I trusted him.

After two rounds of IUI, we decided that it was best to move forward with IVF. Our second round of IVF was successful, and we welcomed our second daughter, Kadence, in September 2020. We are overjoyed to have our healthy baby girl, and our daughter, Madelyn, is so happy to finally be a big sister after longing for a sibling for so long.

We are forever grateful for all the staff at Laurel Fertility. The entire team was dedicated from start to finish. We were consistently treated with compassion by every single employee that we encountered.

Thank you to the entire team that contributed to our success story. We would recommend Laurel Fertility to anybody that is battling infertility.
