January Baby of the Month – Meet Hayes

Our journey began last year in 2019, as my husband and I celebrated our first-year wedding anniversary, we started talking about trying to have kids. I have had a long history of amenorrhea and PCOS from working out so much so I knew that getting pregnant might be a little difficult. My husband and I are also on the older side – I was 38, he was 51.

We tried for three months after our anniversary – July to September of 2019. I used ovulation predictor kits to monitor my ovulation, but it was not happening. My husband also has a high stress job, so it was hard for us to get together as he also works late nights and longer hours. We started looking for other options, I read about fertility treatments such as IUI and IVF. I read that it is common for couples to go through it to try to have children naturally.

We started looking around for great fertility clinics in the area and found Laurel Fertility Care. Upon meeting Dr. Ekpo for the first time, I felt the connection right away. She knew my OB which was a plus and was supportive and caring from the start. After that initial meeting, I knew this was the right place to try again.

We started our IVF protocol in January of 2020 and lucky for us, it worked the first time! We feel so extremely blessed to have the financial resources to have done IVF. We are also grateful to Dr. Ekpo and to all the incredibly sweet nurses who supported us from beginning to end. Nine months later, we have this bundle of joy whom we cannot stop staring at since he was born. He is alert and full of life!

We would like to thank LFC for making our dreams come true. To Dr. Ekpo, nurses and staff – kudos to all of you. You all do so much for women struggling infertility and we commend you all for your dedication and passion to help us through it.
