Reyes Family TTC Journey
Never did I ever imagine when I had my first children in 2013 that IVF would be part of my motherhood journey. In 2013 I naturally conceived my now 10 year old twins and less than 3 years later went on to have my second daughter at the end of 2015. In 2016-2017 I underwent a laser procedure to remove cancer cells in my cervix and waited for my body to heal. As our kids got older we decided to try for another baby in 2020, however with the pandemic and my husband working in health care we found out timing was off often and until the end of 2021 we were unsuccessful.
With my 35 birthday approaching and my husband turning 40 the next year we decided IVF exploration was our best option. In November of 2021 I contacted Laurel Fertility Care and had our first appointment in December. In the beginning of February we had completed a successful egg retrieval with a significant amount of day 5 embryos making it to blast to be frozen.
We waited for my body to heal and April 3, 2022 we transferred. I had my first positive at home pregnancy test three days after and a fairly uncomplicated pregnancy until my son was born on December 11, 2022 via C-section. My husband and I both know we are very lucky to on the first try finding a clinic and a doctor that fit our needs and our wishes.
We were blessed to have insurance that covered the majority of the cost as well. Now we have this little miracle in a process that took less than a year from start to finish. Thank you to Dr. Smikle and the staff in both San Francisco and Modesto. Our Owen Robert Ray Reyes is perfect and we feel so blessed.
